More than 150 young professionals, entrepreneurs, and community members attended the 2025 Western Slope YP Summit last week. The event was organized by the Young Professionals Network in partnership with the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce. The summit, which has become a key event for rising professionals in Western Colorado, focused this year on the theme of finding purpose at work and passion in life.
The day began with a keynote address titled “Why Purpose Isn’t Found, It’s Built” by Marty Imes and Wes Love of CULTURESTOKE. Their presentation encouraged attendees to reflect on what motivates them and emphasized that fulfillment comes from aligning personal interests with professional goals rather than relying solely on job titles or recognition.
Breakout sessions during the summit addressed topics such as civic engagement, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and networking skills. Speakers included Nick Gumpert of The UPS Store and Learn Your Mark, LLC, and Cesar Ruiz of Long Point Digital. These sessions highlighted the importance of authenticity in leadership and encouraged participants to be present, curious, and proactive both at work and in their communities.
The summit also recognized twenty recipients of the 2025 BestSlope NEXTGen Award. These honorees were acknowledged for their leadership, innovation, and service across the Western Slope region. Their contributions range from business ownership to volunteering on boards and committees aimed at improving local communities.
Event organizers credited volunteers, speakers, sponsors—including Community Hospital, Alpine Bank, and FCI Constructors—and other partners for making the summit possible. According to organizers: “The Grand Junction Chamber extends its gratitude to the YP Summit Title Sponsors: Community Hospital, Alpine Bank, and FCI Constructors. Another thanks to all of our sponsors who helped make this event possible.”
Reflecting on this year’s gathering, organizers stated: “As we look back on this year’s event, one message stands out: when young professionals approach their work with passion, lead with purpose, and stay curious about the world around them, they create ripples of growth that reach far beyond their own careers.”
