Motorists traveling on US Highway 550 between Purgatory Ski Resort and Silverton should expect significant delays on Friday, Oct. 10, due to the transport of modular housing units to Silverton. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that the highway will be fully closed in both directions during two separate periods: from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. These closures are necessary to ensure the safe delivery of the housing units.

CDOT advises drivers to plan their travel around these closure times, as vehicles will not be allowed through during the scheduled periods. The affected section of US 550 stretches from Mile Point 49 near Purgatory Ski Resort to Mile Point 70 at Silverton.

According to CDOT, the closures are part of an operation to transport modular homes into the Town of Silverton. The department encourages motorists to adjust their schedules accordingly to avoid being stopped during the closures.
