University of Colorado urges donations to campus food banks amid expected SNAP benefit pause

President Todd Saliman visited Clyde’s Cupboard at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) last week as concerns grow over food insecurity among students. The visit comes as the federal government shutdown is expected to pause Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, potentially increasing demand for food assistance across the state.

Food banks on all four University of Colorado campuses are preparing for a rise in need this weekend, particularly among students who rely on SNAP for groceries. These campus food banks offer food and personal hygiene items to students facing financial challenges.

The university community is being asked to help by donating to campus food banks. More information about specific needs and how to contribute can be found on each campus website:
