Faculty Council at the University of Colorado (CU) recently received an update on the university’s Strategic Plan 2.0, which is set to replace the current five-year plan at the end of this academic year. The update was provided during a remote meeting on November 20 by Strategic Planning Co-Chairs Lynn Vidler, provost at UCCS, and Chad Marturano, vice president and chief financial officer for the CU system.
“We are committed to hearing from faculty and partnering with you on this,” Marturano said. “This (Strategic Plan) will only be as good as the feedback we get from folks.”
Vidler and Marturano urged faculty, staff, and students across CU to participate in an email survey distributed on November 19. The survey invites input about the university’s future direction. Participants are asked to use their unique URL received via email with the subject line “Share Your Voice on CU’s Future.” Each link is specific to its recipient and cannot be shared. Completing the survey is expected to take about six minutes.
To encourage participation, a $1,000 donation will be awarded to the campus food pantry of the campus with the highest completion rate among faculty, staff, and students.
“This survey is designed to gather perspectives on university priorities, performance and opportunities for improvement,” President Todd Saliman said in his email launching the effort. “The insights you provide will help shape our next Strategic Plan as we work to continue delivering for our community.”
Marturano noted that while some aspects of Strategic Plan 2.0 may resemble elements from the current plan, other components will be new or adapted due to changing circumstances since 2021.
“The duration of the plan might be different,” he said. “The world is very different than it was in 2021. So we’re being mindful of how we could think about components of this plan that are evergreen. … We (also) want to be nimble and able to course correct along the way.”
The draft version of Strategic Plan 2.0 is expected by June 2026 for review by President Saliman before final presentation to CU’s Board of Regents later that summer. The existing strategic plan remains effective until June 2026.
Further information about CU’s strategic planning process can be found through official university channels.
