The University of Colorado’s Federal Relations and Counsel has released updates regarding recent federal policy changes affecting higher education. The August 15 update covers the Department of Education’s (ED) ruling on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), clarification on enhanced admissions data, a proposed National Institutes of Health (NIH) rule prohibiting certain gender data collection, and a joint workforce strategy report from the ED, Department of Labor (DOL), and Department of Commerce (DOC).

A previous update from August 8 addressed topics such as an ED memo on admissions data, an executive order on federal grantmaking, a lawsuit concerning the cancellation of a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant, Government Accountability Office (GAO) updates on pocket rescissions, a GAO report about NIH grant cancellations, confirmation of the ED Under Secretary, and investigations into frozen funds at UCLA and Duke.

The university encourages stakeholders to review these communications for details on how these federal actions may impact campus operations. Ongoing updates are available through the CU System Federal Transitions Updates page.
