The University of Colorado has opened the submission period for its 2026 Innovation & Efficiency (CU I&E) Awards Program, inviting employees to submit their innovative ideas that improve university operations. The awards aim to recognize and share successful solutions that have saved time, money, or effort within the university’s systems.

Entries are being accepted until March 31. The program is open to individuals and teams who have implemented new approaches that enhance processes at the university. According to the Office of University Controller, last year’s submissions included projects ranging from automated academic workflows to improvements in research operations and campuswide efficiency initiatives.

The top award in 2025 went to Emily Bishop from CU Anschutz for her project “Sustainability in Simulation Operations.” This year, cash prizes of up to $1,500 will be given to those whose innovations are selected by a judging panel.

The CU I&E Awards Program is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of continuous improvement among its staff and faculty.
