The U.S. Census Bureau has released the latest Business Formation Statistics (BFS) for August 2025. The BFS offer monthly data on new business applications and formations across the United States, providing insights at national, regional, and state levels. These statistics are available in both seasonally adjusted and nonseasonally adjusted formats.

The BFS is a collaborative effort between the Census Bureau and economists from several institutions, including the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the University of Maryland, and the University of Notre Dame.

In addition to national data, the Census Bureau has published Monthly Puerto Rico Business Applications. This experimental product tracks four series of business applications in Puerto Rico using methods consistent with those applied to existing BFS data.

No additional news release was issued with this announcement.
