The U.S. Census Bureau has published updated statistics on state-to-state migration flows and place of birth for the year 2024. The data, released on January 21, 2026, includes estimates on the movement of people between all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and from abroad to the United States.
The new figures are compiled in two tables. The first details the number of people moving between states and territories as well as international arrivals. The second table breaks down current residents by their place of birth across all states and territories.
These statistics are drawn from the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates, providing insights into geographic mobility patterns in the United States.
