Motorists traveling on Colorado Highway 151 between Ignacio and Chimney Rock National Monument should expect delays due to multiple work zones. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that, in addition to ongoing resurfacing and culvert repair from mile points 12 to 26, maintenance crews will pave a short segment north of the current project area from Monday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 30.

During this period, drivers between Allison and the US 160 Junction may experience up to 30 minutes of additional travel time. Maintenance paving operations will occur on CO 151 from mile point 31 to mile point 32 with work scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. CDOT advises motorists to plan for delays of about 10 to 15 minutes and be prepared for one-lane alternating traffic guided by temporary signals and a pilot vehicle. Drivers entering the highway from driveways or intersections must wait for the pilot car before merging into traffic.

The resurfacing and culvert improvement project on CO 151, which covers mile points 12 to 26, continues with daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Motorists can expect approximately a fifteen-minute delay in this area due to one-lane alternating traffic managed by flagging personnel. The scope of work includes paving operations and guardrail installation.

“All work is weather-dependent,” according to CDOT officials. “Motorists are encouraged to check the most current traffic impacts on COtrip.org.”
