The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the intersection of Weld County Road 38 and the I-25 East Frontage Road, located east of Mead, beginning Tuesday, September 16 at 5 a.m. The closure is scheduled to last until mid-October to allow for reconstruction and improvements at the intersection as part of the WCR 38 bridge project over I-25.

During this period, westbound traffic on WCR 38 will be redirected east to Colorado Boulevard. Drivers can then travel south and either head west onto Weld County Road 34 to reach local destinations or turn west onto Colorado Highway 66 for access to I-25. Northbound traffic on the I-25 East Frontage Road will be diverted south and directed onto Weld County Road 34 for local access or entry onto I-25.

Southbound vehicles will not have access to the I-25 East Frontage Road between WCR 38 and Weld County Road 40 during the closure. Alternate routes include Colorado Highway 56, Colorado Boulevard, and WCR 34.

“This work is part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, Mead to Berthoud, which includes reconstructing and widening bridges along this section of I-25. Full closures increase safety for the traveling public and crews while decreasing the duration of traffic impacts.”

Construction schedules may change depending on weather conditions.

Motorists are advised that:
– The full closure begins Tuesday, September 16 at 5 a.m. through mid-October.
– Posted detours should be followed throughout the duration of construction.

Additional information regarding demolition and reconstruction activities for the Weld County Road 38 bridge can be found through CDOT channels.
