The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), together with Elam Construction, has finished a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 141 near Gateway. The work covered about 13 miles of the highway, stretching from Mile Point 107 at Larsen Canyon south of Gateway to Mile Point 120 at Turner Gulch north of Gateway. The project started on July 7 and was completed in October 2025.

“CO 141 is a scenic and historically significant route that winds through the western region of the state,” said Jason Smith, CDOT Regional Transportation Director. “In addition to supporting tourism, the highway serves as a vital link for connecting rural communities. The new surface will make this route more reliable.”

The project involved applying two layers of asphalt overlay paving, replacing guardrails, and repairing bridge decks at two locations. Crews also added shouldering material along both sides of the road to improve safety by creating a smoother and more stable surface for vehicles returning to the roadway.
