The Mesa County Valley School District 51 held its third annual Strong Schools, Strong Community Luncheon this week. The event brought together business and community leaders to highlight student achievements and discuss ways to support the district in the future. This year’s luncheon was organized in partnership with Colorado Mesa University (CMU), which allowed both organizations to showcase collaborative efforts aimed at expanding opportunities for students and strengthening the local education-to-career pipeline.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Hill thanked CMU for their partnership and acknowledged President Marshall for his remarks about how the collaboration benefits students across Mesa County. “Thanks to CMU for their partnership and to President Marshall for speaking about all the ways our partnership benefits students across Mesa County,” said Dr. Hill.

In addition to the luncheon, Dr. Hill visited several schools this week to present Performance School banners. Mesa View Elementary received recognition as a Performance School for the sixth consecutive year, while Pear Park Elementary and Orchard Mesa Middle School were honored for their second straight years of achieving this status. Dr. Hill noted that his visit to Orchard Mesa Middle School was particularly meaningful because his own child attends there.

“These visits are always a highlight of my week and a chance to celebrate hard work, growth, and the collective effort it takes to reach this level of success,” Dr. Hill stated. He also commended Principals Cohen, Moore, and Dr. Medved for their leadership in helping their schools achieve these milestones.
