IAM Local 318’s Joseph Rumrey, who represents rail workers in Boston at Keolis, recently took part in a leadership training session at the IAM Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The program brought together about 14 union representatives from various parts of the United States.

The focus of the class was to provide these leaders with key skills needed to support their members. The curriculum emphasized mastering claims writing and preparing for legal investigations. These areas are considered essential for union representatives as they work to protect the interests of their membership.

In addition to individual training, the broader goals for the rail division include efforts to secure funding for commuter rail and expand high-speed rail infrastructure nationwide.
