The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced overnight closures on Interstate 25 at Colorado Highway 7 next week as part of the I-25 & CO 7 Interim Mobility Hub project. The closures are necessary to install concrete girders for a new pedestrian bridge.

Northbound I-25 at CO 7 will be closed on Monday, Dec. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., while southbound I-25 at CO 7 will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 9, during the same hours. Lane closures will begin with a single lane at 8 p.m., increase to two lanes at 9 p.m., and transition to a full closure by 11 p.m. each night. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m.

During the closures, traffic will be detoured using the CO 7 exit and entrance ramps (Exit 229). Traffic control personnel will be present to manage flow and maintain safety on the ramps and CO 7. Drivers should expect slower traffic and possible delays.

In case of bad weather, work may be rescheduled for Dec. 10 and Dec. 11.

According to CDOT, “Closing I-25 at night allows the work zone to be expanded for the construction team and allows the traveling public to safely travel through the area.”

The girder installation marks a significant step in the mobility hub project that began in March 2025. The project includes building a Park-and-Ride lot in the southeast quadrant of the interchange, constructing Bustang slip ramps, erecting a pedestrian bridge over I-25, and installing a permanent water quality pond. These improvements aim to enhance regional connectivity and provide more reliable transportation options.

The project is expected to be completed by fall of 2026.
