On September 11, Grand Junction Parks and Recreation will organize the 2025 Licensed Tree Contractor Day of Public Service at Sherwood Park. Seven licensed contractors, along with 22 employees, are set to volunteer with the City’s Forestry Division to prune between 15 and 20 trees during the event.

To ensure public safety while work is underway, the city announced that the northern end of Sherwood Park—including sidewalks, the north parking lot, and adjacent street parking—will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An information table staffed by members of the Forestry Board will be available for those seeking details about tree care or specifics on the event.

The Grand Junction Forestry Division manages more than 57,000 public trees throughout the city. Of these, over 18,000 trees are regularly maintained in parks and along city streets.
