Physicians and physician assistants in Colorado are required to complete at least two hours of training on opioid management and related topics for their license renewal, according to the Colorado Medical Board. The requirement is based on section 12-30-114(1)(a), C.R.S. and 3 CCR 713-1 Rule 1.29.

To help meet this requirement, Copic will offer a series of CME-accredited presentations live via Zoom in early 2025. The sessions include “Opioids I: Best practices for opioid and benzodiazepine management using state and CDC guidelines” scheduled for February 11, March 11, March 25, and April 16, as well as “Opioids II: Strategies for Reducing the Burden: Diagnosis, treatment, tapering and documentation for acute and chronic opioids and benzodiazepines” set for February 12, March 12, March 26, and April 16.

“Please mark your calendar and allow Copic to help you meet your two hours of training requirements for the 5/1/2025 to 4/30/2027 license cycle,” organizers stated.

Registration information will be sent to Colorado licensees with Copic identifications early in the year. The opportunity is also being shared through organized medicine partners at both physician and advanced practice provider (APP) levels.

Copic is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
