Applications are now open for the Alfred D. Gilchrist Student Leader Scholarship, with a deadline set for April 1. The scholarship is aimed at third- and fourth-year medical students in Colorado who have shown notable leadership within organized medicine.

Applicants must submit a personal statement of up to 500 words, a letter of recommendation, and a CV. A headshot is optional. Candidates can edit their responses after submission, and if more than one application is submitted, only the most recent will be considered.

The Alfred D. Gilchrist Student Leader Scholarship Foundation was created in 2020 to honor Mr. Gilchrist’s four decades of advocacy for physicians. Mr. Gilchrist previously served as CEO of the Colorado Medical Society (CMS). Scholarship recipients usually receive awards ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 per student.

Eligible candidates must be full-time medical students in good standing at an accredited Colorado medical school and have completed at least two years of study. Preference will be given to those who have been active with CMS or a Colorado component medical society. Students who have received this award before are not eligible.

“Scholarships will be awarded in May/June 2026.”
