The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced a closure at the north intersection of Colorado Highway 7 (Arapahoe Avenue) and 38th Street in Boulder. The closure will begin on Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m. and is expected to last until Monday, July 28, at 5 a.m., as crews conduct milling and paving operations.
During this period, access to 38th Street will be maintained through a detour route. CDOT advises motorists to follow posted detour signs for directions around the work zone. Business access in the area will remain open throughout the construction period.
The ongoing project includes reclamation work involving removal of existing asphalt and reconditioning of base materials before laying new asphalt. According to CDOT, these efforts are intended “to create a stronger foundation, followed by a new asphalt overlay to improve smoothness and safety for drivers.” The improvements are part of an initiative aimed at enhancing roadway conditions and extending pavement life.
Additional measures during construction include reducing the speed limit to 35 MPH within the work zone and increased presence of construction vehicles entering and exiting the area. The project is scheduled for completion by late December 2025.
Motorists seeking up-to-date information on road conditions can visit COtrip.org (https://www.cotrip.org).
