Colorado health officials announce new measles exposure sites in Mesa County

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has announced new locations where individuals may have been exposed to measles in Fruita and Grand Junction. The identified sites include Trailblazer Pizza, Shell Gas Station, Roper Music Store, Golden Gate Petrol, and several timeframes at Community Hospital.

People who were present at these locations during the specified dates and times should watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. CDPHE advises anyone experiencing symptoms to contact their health care provider by phone.

According to CDPHE: “We will continue to maintain and regularly update a list of exposure locations on our website, as well as 2025 Colorado measles case information.”

The department explained its approach to public communication during this period: “CDPHE is committed to ensuring the public and media receive the most timely and actionable information during measles activity in Colorado.” They added that exposure alerts will be issued when new public locations are confirmed. Information about individual cases—such as age or vaccination status—will not be included in these alerts. Press releases will only be used for major developments like large outbreaks or changes in reporting practices.

“The alerts allow Coloradans to get the information they need most quickly, where exposures have occurred, and what action to take,” CDPHE stated.

CDPHE continues to provide updates about potential exposures through its official channels so residents can take appropriate measures if needed.
