The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Clean Fleet Enterprise is now accepting applications for its Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology Grant Program. The application window runs from September 15 through October 24, 2025. Eligible applicants include businesses, local governments, non-profits, schools, and other organizations with fleet operations.
The grant program offers funding to help replace gas or diesel-powered fleet vehicles with low-emission and zero-emission alternatives. These options include vehicles powered by electricity, hydrogen, or recovered methane.
“Colorado is taking a multi-pronged approach to reduce emissions from transportation to protect the air we breathe. As part of this, I’m excited to continue supporting the grant program,” said CDPHE Senior Director of State Air Quality Programs Michael Ogletree. “Fleet operators who participate will reduce air pollution while saving money. We hope organizations in Colorado will recognize the many benefits of choosing to make the switch.”
State officials highlight that switching to low- or zero-emission vehicles can help reduce ozone pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. This effort supports goals set in Colorado’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap.
Besides environmental benefits, CDPHE notes that organizations may see savings on fuel and maintenance costs by adopting these newer vehicle technologies. Updated guidelines for applying are available on the program’s website.
This marks the third round of applications for this grant initiative. Project selections are expected in December 2025, with contracts anticipated to begin in early 2026. The department advises that only vehicle acquisitions made after contract execution will be eligible for funding.
Organizations previously awarded grants under this program may apply again if seeking funds for additional vehicles. The enterprise expects to reopen applications at least once annually through 2033 or as long as funds remain available.
CDPHE also points applicants toward the Fleet Zero-Emission Resource Opportunity (Fleet-ZERO) Grant Program managed by the Colorado Energy Office. That complementary initiative provides funding support for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and accepts standard applications from September 15 through October 17, 2025.
