The Colorado Education Association (CEA) has released its 2025 Legislative Scorecard, which outlines the work of state lawmakers in supporting public education. The scorecard highlights legislators who promoted increased funding for schools, advocated for respect for educators, supported workers’ rights, and worked to advance protections for immigrants.
This year’s report recognizes both “Top of Class” lawmakers who led key policy initiatives and “Risk Takers” who prioritized students and educators despite political challenges. The CEA identified sustainable school funding, reducing punitive accountability measures, strengthening workplace rights for educators, and protecting immigrant students and families as its main legislative priorities.
Lawmakers responded by passing a School Finance Act that provided an additional $150 million in funding for public schools. They also advanced legislation aimed at improving protections for educators in the workplace.
“Colorado’s students and educators deserve leaders who will fight for them every single day at the Capitol,” said Kevin Vick, president of CEA and an educator of more than 20 years. “This year, we are proud to recognize lawmakers who not only listened to educators, but also acted to strengthen our classrooms, protect public education funding, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
