The Colorado Department of Natural Resources has announced it is seeking candidates for the role of Director at Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Applications are being accepted online through the State of Colorado’s job portal, with the deadline set for December 31, 2025. Both residents and non-residents may apply, and individuals from all backgrounds are encouraged to submit applications.

CPW serves as Colorado’s main agency responsible for conservation, recreation, and wildlife management. According to the department, “CPW’s mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.”

As an enterprise agency within the Department of Natural Resources, CPW operates primarily on revenue from license sales, state park fees, and registration fees. The division manages 43 state parks and more than 350 wildlife areas across about 900,000 acres in total. Its responsibilities include overseeing fishing and hunting activities, wildlife watching programs, camping sites, trails for motorized and non-motorized use, boating access points, and outdoor education initiatives.

CPW contributes an estimated $6 billion annually in economic impact throughout Colorado.
