The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct paving operations on Colorado Highway 159 south of San Luis next week. The work is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

According to CDOT, crews will focus on Mile Points 2 to 4 on Tuesday and move north to Mile Points 6 to 7 on Wednesday. During these times, motorists should expect full stops and alternating traffic guided by pilot cars. Delays may last up to 15 minutes throughout each day.

“Motorists entering the highway from a driveway or intersection must wait for a pilot car before proceeding with the flow of traffic,” CDOT stated.

The department also noted that daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., September 9 through September 10. Traffic impacts include controlled access and potential delays as paving is completed between San Luis and the Colorado-New Mexico state line.

A travel alert map detailing the affected area has been made available by CDOT for those seeking more information about the paving operations and expected disruptions.
