Beginning Tuesday, September 9, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct an asphalt overlay surface treatment on US Highway 50. The work will occur on the west side of Monarch Pass near Sargents and is scheduled to last three days, from Tuesday through Thursday. Crews will be paving approximately three miles of roadway between Mile Points 193 and 196.
During construction hours, which run from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., motorists should expect full stops, alternating one-lane traffic, and delays of up to 15 minutes as the paving operations are underway.
“Motorists can expect up to 15-minute delays and alternating one-lane traffic,” according to CDOT.
The project aims to improve road conditions along this stretch of US Highway 50. Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time while the work is in progress.
