Motorists traveling on US Highway 160 between Elmore’s Corner and Silver Hills Road west of Bayfield should expect up to 30-minute delays starting Tuesday, September 9. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct survey work along this stretch through September 26. The affected area covers Mile Point 91.8 to Mile Point 97, just west of County Road 223.

The survey operations will take place Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. CDOT advises drivers moving between Durango and Bayfield to plan for additional travel time during these hours.

According to CDOT, crews will attempt to keep traffic alternating through the work zone but full stops and lane closures may be necessary at times for safety reasons.

“Crews will attempt to keep traffic alternating through the work zone however, full stops and lane closures will be necessary to safely perform the operations.”

A highway travel alert map is available showing the location of delays and survey activities along US 160 during this period.
