The Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced the launch of new social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky. This move is part of the department’s effort to improve communication with residents and increase public engagement about natural resources and related programs.

According to the DNR, expanding its digital presence will help share information about conservation efforts, environmental initiatives, and departmental priorities. These priorities include advancing biodiversity, balancing conservation and recreation needs, supporting the state’s energy transition, enhancing tribal engagement, and strengthening climate resilience.

“As Colorado nears its 150th year of statehood, we recognize the need to respond strategically to our state’s growing natural resource challenges. By connecting with Coloradans on a diverse array of social media platforms, we hope to better inform, educate, and engage with the public on pressing environmental matters that affect our state and greater inform the public on our Divisions activities and accomplishments,” stated the department in its announcement.

The DNR invited residents to follow their new accounts for updates regarding natural resource management. The department manages water, soil, wildlife, recreation areas, and energy resources across Colorado. It operates through six divisions: Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety (DRMS), Division of Water Resources (DWR), Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC), and State Land Board (SLB). Special programs such as the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) are also managed within its Executive Director’s Office.

These divisions work together to manage natural resources for both current residents and future generations while focusing on key strategic goals set by the department.
