The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) announced that the pre-application window for its June round of emergency rental assistance is now open. Applications will be accepted from Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. until Wednesday, June 11, at 5:00 p.m.

DOLA stated that its main priority is to serve as many Coloradans as possible in an equitable and efficient manner. The available emergency rental assistance targets residents who are behind on rent, meet specific income requirements and other criteria, and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Priority will continue to be given to those facing eviction.

After the pre-application period closes, all applicants will be entered into a random selection process. Those selected will receive an email invitation to complete a full application through the online portal within seven days. To be considered for aid, applicants must meet eligibility criteria and submit all required documentation before the deadline.

“In the random selection process, the timing of submission does NOT impact an applicant’s chances of receiving rental assistance. For example, submitting a pre-application earlier in the application window does not increase the likelihood of receiving rental assistance. All eligible applicants who submit a pre-application by the deadline will be entered into the random selection process,” DOLA said in its announcement.

For individuals needing help with their applications or with questions about the process, support is available through the CARE Center by phone at (303) 838-1200 from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time.

In addition to helping with emergency rental assistance applications, the CARE Center also connects individuals to various housing stability services such as eviction prevention support, housing counseling, landlord-tenant mediation, legal aid and other resources tailored to individual needs.

More information about the pre-application process and frequently asked questions can be found on DOLA’s emergency rental assistance website.

Anyone seeking further information or help regarding rental assistance can contact the CARE Center at (303) 838-1200 or info@carecenter.us.
