Physicians and health care providers are being asked to participate in a new effort aimed at protecting Medicaid from proposed federal funding cuts. The initiative comes as Congress debates significant reductions to the program, which advocates say could affect access to care for veterans, seniors, rural communities, and working families.
The Protect Our Healthcare Coalition has launched a national peer-to-peer texting campaign. Through this campaign, volunteers can send pre-written messages directly to voters in key congressional districts using RumbleUp, a secure texting platform. The goal is to encourage recipients to contact their members of Congress and urge them to oppose any cuts to Medicaid.
“This is an opportunity for you to lend your voice, your credibility, and your leadership in a moment that matters,” the coalition stated.
The campaign provides detailed instructions for physicians and health care providers who wish to volunteer. Participants are directed first to create an account through the coalition’s website. After registering, they receive further instructions by email on how to begin sending texts using RumbleUp’s system. The platform ensures that volunteers’ personal phone numbers remain private.
Volunteers are encouraged with training materials such as welcome videos and step-by-step guides available online at https://protectourhealthcare.org/welcome and https://www.protectourhealthcare.org/texting-program.
“All texts are sent through RumbleUp’s secure platform. Your personal phone number or messaging service is never used to contact voters,” according to the coalition’s announcement.
Organizers emphasize that the campaign relies on real volunteers and that participation could make a meaningful difference as Congress considers changes that may impact emergency services, preventative care, community clinics, and hospital stability for vulnerable populations.
