The U.S. Census Bureau has announced the start of the 2026 Census Test, which will take place in Huntsville, Alabama and Spartanburg, South Carolina. The test aims to assess different operations ahead of the 2030 Census.
According to the Bureau, this year’s test will evaluate how the U.S. Postal Service can be used for tasks that are usually carried out by Census Bureau field workers. It will also include limited activities related to in-field enumeration.
In a statement, the agency said it “remains committed to conducting the most accurate count in history for the 2030 Census and looks forward to the continued partnership with local communities.”
The results from these tests are expected to help improve census procedures and ensure more efficient data collection during the next decennial census.
